About Marissa

Marissa Hutabarat is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. She is an associate attorney at Glago Williams, LLC, where she specializes in civil litigation cases including personal injury cases such as automobile accidents, medical malpractice, and insurance disputes. Most recently, Marissa has been involved in the advocation of clients affected by the Hard Rock Collapse case. After graduating from law school, she completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Judge Roland Belsome of the Louisiana State Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit, where she performed research, summarized, drafted bench memoranda, and outlined orders on matters pending before the Judge. She also had the opportunity to observe appellate arguments, read appellate briefs, and review lower court records. Marissa then became the judicial law clerk for the Honorable Edwin A. Lombard of the Louisiana State Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit. There she conducted research and analyzed legal date to draft opinions as well as prepared legal memoranda and various court orders for civil and criminal cases for review. Marissa was tasked with conferring with other appellate judges and law clerks to provide the Judge with recommendations to process regular and expedited consideration supervisory writs. Marissa also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Monique Barial in the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans' domestic division where she reviewed domestic pleadings and memorandums filed by parties along with draft bench memorandums setting forth the facts, issues, laws, and recommendation dispositions for motion hearings, rules, and trials. She communicated with counsel and/or pro se litigants to answer questions regarding procedural requirements. In addition to her vast legal experience, Marissa believes in service to the community. She serves on the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse for Greater New Orleans (CADA), whose mission is to empower the community to build a safe and healthy future through prevention, treatment, and recovery support services that foster resilience and well-being. She is also an active member of the Orchid Society, a young professional network of women serving as positive role models for young minority girls in the New Orleans metropolitan area through mentoring, Community service, and social awareness programming.
